Stephen A. Smith, a prominent figure at ESPN, recently shared insights into why he’s never been married, attributing it to his intense work commitments and personal beliefs.
On Cam’ron‘s Talk With Flee podcast, Smith expressed his thoughts on marriage, providing an honest view of his lifestyle choices.
Smith, a long-time ESPN contributor, noted that his job demands have hindered his ability to maintain relationships. He mentioned working around 330 days a year and traveling extensively, which makes the prospect of marriage challenging.
“That’s why I’ve never married,” he shared with Cam’ron. “I was away for 200 days yearly, and I couldn’t commit to fidelity at that time. Why would I get married knowing I couldn’t keep my vows?”
Audience Reactions to Smith’s Candor
While Smith‘s truthfulness displayed self-awareness, it led to varied responses from listeners, some of whom questioned his motivations.
One fan remarked, “No need for elaborate explanations. Just admit you love money and women,” while another suggested, “Men wearing sunglasses indoors are often self-centered.”
Some fans rejected his reasoning.
One criticized, “I’m not convinced that’s the real reason,” and another reflected on seeing Smith frequently away: “I thought he was gone often from First Take.”
Although Smith’s statements seem clear-cut, it prompts speculation about whether his views might change if he encounters someone who can adapt to his busy lifestyle.
