Khloé Kardashian is openly criticizing the devastating wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles. On Friday night, the reality star took to Instagram to express her dissatisfaction with LA Mayor Karen Bass, describing her handling of the situation as “a joke.”
This criticism followed an emotional interview where Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley accused the mayor of letting down the community.
Crowley stated that despite requests for more funding over a month ago, her department lacked essential resources for things like repairing firetrucks and maintaining hydrants.
“I stand by YOU, Chief Crowley!” Khloé expressed on her Instagram Story, sharing part of the interview. “You spoke the truth, and I could see your emotions because I know you didn’t want to say it. But it was THE TRUTH!!!!” She further declared, “Mayor Bass, you are a joke!!!!”
Khloé shows her anger towards the mayor
Khloé isn’t alone in her anger; other celebrities such as Mel Gibson and James Woods have also criticized Mayor Bass for what they perceive as an inadequate response to the fires that have impacted locations like Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena.
Members of the Kardashian-Jenner family, including Kim, Kourtney, Rob, Kendall, Kylie, and Kris Jenner, were among those who evacuated their homes due to the Kenneth Fire, which has consumed over 1,000 acres. Although the evacuation has been lifted, it is unclear if they have returned to their properties.
In the midst of the chaos, the Kardashians are also giving back. Khloé announced that they have teamed up with the Carousel Restaurant to provide meals for firefighters, first responders, and volunteers.
“Thank you for risking your lives for all of us!” she expressed, showing appreciation for the brave individuals fighting the fires.
Losses among celebrities
While the Kardashian homes have been spared, not all stars have been as lucky. Paris Hilton lost her Malibu property this week, and other celebrities like Leighton Meester, Miles Teller, Heidi Montag, and Billy Crystal have also seen their homes destroyed.
As the fires continue, Khloé’s vocal criticism highlights the growing discontent among LA residents towards the city’s management. Many are left wondering if this disaster could have been avoided with better preparedness.
