A close source reveals that Jennifer Lopez is canceling all her media engagements as she shifts her focus to aiding her local community in Los Angeles, which has been severely impacted by catastrophic wildfires claiming at least 11 lives.
On Tuesday, January 7, California’s largest city faced fierce flames fueled by winds of up to 100mph, rendering the situation unmanageable for the Los Angeles Fire Department despite extensive firefighting efforts.
Areas such as Pacific Palisades and Sunset Boulevard have been devastated, putting even the iconic Hollywood sign at risk as firefighters fear they may not manage to contain the fires.
More than 130,000 individuals have been displaced, affecting nearly 30,000 acres, with thousands of homes destroyed. Prominent figures like James Woods, Paris Hilton, and Anthony Hopkins are among those who have lost their residences in this disaster.
In the wake of this crisis, Lopez has opted to withdraw from promoting her forthcoming film, Unstoppable, to concentrate on assisting the residents of Los Angeles in recovering from this tragedy, exhibiting remarkable human kindness.
According to a source for PEOPLE, “It’s crucial for her to focus on aiding the Los Angeles community during this challenging period,” just days before the film debuts on Amazon Prime on Friday, January 17.
The planned premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood has been scrapped, and Lopez will not travel to New York for promotional appearances on shows like Today or The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Lopez keeps in touch with Affleck
While she works to support Los Angeles, the 55-year-old is also ensuring she reaches out to her loved ones, including her estranged husband and his children.
Lopez publicly announced her divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024, shortly after he moved to the wildfire-affected Pacific Palisades region. She is also concerned for his kids Violet (19), Fin (16), and Samuel (12).
Although they are still navigating the divorce process, they have been living apart since April 2024, following Affleck’s move first to Brentwood and then to Pacific Palisades.
