Two siblings have shared their experience of being kidnapped and extorted for N470,000 by officers from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command.
On that day, they were stopped in their vehicle around Kurudu, immediately after the Army Estate, by men claiming to be police officers.
The brothers described being forced into a gold-colored Toyota Corolla, where they were driven around for some time by officers allegedly from the 10/Zone 6 division.
They reported being treated as criminals during their ordeal and coerced into transferring money to an account associated with Sani Musa Enterprises.
One of the brothers recounted, “Last Wednesday, my brother and I were extorted by the police. They took N470,000 from us while we were driving towards Kurudu after the Army estate.”
“They ordered us out of our car, took us to their tinted one, searched our phones, and found no evidence of wrongdoing. Despite being armed, they began to assault us.
“They accused us of being internet fraudsters even after finding nothing on our devices. Eventually, they transported us in a fully tinted vehicle and demanded that I transfer all our funds to an OPAY account, 6114428320 belonging to Sani Musa Enterprises.”
“After the transfer, they abandoned us under the Zone 2 bridge. Their vehicle was a gold-colored Toyota Corolla, heavily tinted, with the police insignia removed.”
The brothers have appealed to human rights organizations and police officials for assistance in addressing this troubling incident.
