Ariel has gadgets and gizmos, a plenty, and so can you, “The Little Mermaid” fans. The live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, featuring Halle Bailey as Ariel, is officially in theaters and fans are embracing how the love story has evolved for 2023.

All in all, it’s clear that the reimagined story and its star are making an impact. While chatting with POPSUGAR earlier this year, Bailey spoke about representation on screen and her turn as the iconic Disney princess. “It’s about time that a role like this is played by a Black woman, by somebody who is just a part of this beautiful community. We deserve to have images that look like us and to see ourselves in the media on big screens and everything,” she said at the time. “So I’m just grateful that we’re getting to see ourselves finally on such big projects.”
