The EGOT club is one of the most exclusive in Hollywood, as it is reserved for those who have achieved the grand slam of all four major entertainment awards: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. Viola Davis recently joined the EGOT club after winning her first Grammy for best audio book, narration, and storytelling for narrating the audio version of her 2022 memoir, “Finding Me.” This makes Davis the third Black woman to achieve EGOT status after Jennifer Hudson and Whoopi Goldberg, and the fourth black person after Hudson, Goldberg, and John Legend.
Hudson joined the EGOT club in June 2022 when she won her Tony thanks to her work as a producer of the Broadway musical “A Strange Loop,” which took home the award for best musical at the ceremony. At 40, Hudson was the third-youngest person to EGOT, after Legend and “Frozen” songwriter Robert Lopez, who were both 39.
With the 2023 Oscars weekend upon us, we can look forward to seeing who else will join this exclusive club. While some have taken their entire careers to earn all four awards, others have been able to do it quickly. Check out all the Hollywood stars who are *this close* to getting their own EGOTs.
