Ready for more “BMF”? Starz renewed the hit true-crime drama — inspired by the real-life story of Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (portrayed by Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr.), Terry “Southwest T” Flenory (played by Da’Vinchi), and their legendary crime syndicate Black Mafia Family — for a third season on Jan. 18, not even two weeks after its season two premiere. And now, the network has set a spring return date for the series — and it’s set to feature some exciting new additions to the cast.

“‘BMF’ captures the essence of Detroit through elevated, gritty storytelling and our fans have passionately responded to this show more than ever before,” Starz President of Original Programming Kathryn Busby said in a press statement of the season three renewal. “Following such a strong debut with season two, we’re thrilled to continue to expand on the incredible story of the Flenory brothers as they change the game by writing their own rules. We can’t wait to see what our extraordinary producers and cast deliver next.”

Details about season three are still scarce, although Starz has shared some tiny hints so far. Viewers can expect the show to pick up after the events of season two’s finale, as BMF continues its expansion in the South. Season two of “BMF,” which premiered on Jan. 6, began with Meech and Terry at odds with each other as they continued to shape their drug business, form new bonds, and gain new enemies. According to showrunner Heather Zuhlke, fans will see more fallout next season. “. . . Somatically all of our characters are in a season of reinvention across the board – Charles (Russel Hornsby), Lucille (Michole Briana White), Meech, Terry, Bryant (Steve Harris) and Jin (Kelly Hu),” she told Variety in March. There’s consequences to all these things. So you’re going to see all of that dramatized moving forward.”

In a January interview with POPSUGAR, Da’Vinchi teased his hopes for season three, saying, “I would love to see Terry find a world where Markisha (La La Anthony) and LaWanda (Sydney Mitchell) could just coexist.”

Read ahead for everything else we know about “BMF” season three so far, from the new cast members to the premiere date.

“BMF” Season 3 Cast

Flenory Jr. and Da’Vinchi will, of course, return to continue BMF’s story in season three. No other official announcements about returning cast members have been shared yet, but viewers can likely expect to see Anthony, Mitchell, Hornsby, White, Harris, and Hu in some capacity next season. There are also some new (and familiar) faces joining the cast, too.

According to a press release shared with POPSUGAR on Feb. 21, 2 Chainz and Ne-Yo both have recurring roles in season three, joining Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Yung Miami of City Girls, and other artists who have scored cameos in “BMF.” 2 Chainz plays a character named Stacks, “an Atlanta-born and bred distributor whose wisdom and stature command respect wherever he goes,” who “lives by the street code” and “challenges Meech’s leadership style.” Meanwhile, Ne-Yo stars as Rodney “Greeny” Green, a “local Atlanta player who’s all about making the bag” and “filled with swagger and an entrepreneurial spirit.”

“BMF” Season 3 Plot

According to Starz, season three will “kick off in the early ’90s when the Flenory family has reinvented themselves. Meech has moved to Atlanta on a mission to build up the BMF empire in the South that he and Terry created in Detroit.” The network also teased that “the series continues to humanize the choices of the brothers’ business and their pursuits of the American Dream.”

“BMF” Season 3 Release Date

The third season kicks off on March 1, 2024.
