Romy Lauer, daughter of the former Today show coanchor Matt Lauer, has drawn attention for fleeing the site of an accident in the Hamptons. In the early hours of July 5, the 20-year-old reportedly crashed her Jeep Wrangler into a fence and a sign on North Sea Mecox Road. However, when the police arrived, Romy was not present.
The authorities identified a license plate that had come off during the crash, enabling them to link the vehicle to Romy. She has now received a summons for abandoning the accident scene.
Concerned Resident Reports the Accident
After hearing a loud crash, a local resident called 911, leading the police to the location where they discovered a damaged fence and sign, but no driver.
