After some delays caused by the challenging wildfires impacting Los Angeles, we now have the confirmed date for the 2025 Oscars nominations announcement.
While the Oscars represent the pinnacle of glamour in the film industry, hosting a lavish event amidst such calamity may seem inappropriate. However, in light of the devastation, the Academy has chosen to proceed with the 97th Oscars.
Bill Kramer, the Academy‘s CEO, shared in a statement that after discussions with ABC and other stakeholders, the ceremony is set for March 2.
This year’s celebration will also honor the courageous individuals combating the wildfires.
“We believe it is essential to uphold our film community and utilize our international platform to acknowledge these important moments,” stated Kramer.
The organizers will keep a close watch on the fire developments; nevertheless, the event will continue as scheduled. As mentioned by Kramer, the spirit of Los Angeles and its film sector reflects resilience, and the Oscars not only celebrate films but also the community’s strength during tough times.
The nominations reveal will be presented live by Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.
This year, music will take center stage, with two musicals—Wicked and Emilia Perez—along with the biopic Bob Dylan, A Complete Unknown, anticipated to contend for Best Picture.
