Aaron Rodgers often makes headlines not just for his performances in the NFL, but also for his personal life. One particular period of attention was marked by strained relations with his parents while he was romantically involved with Olivia Munn.
During the winter of 2014, Rodgers ceased communication with his parents, coinciding with his cohabitation with Munn in Green Bay. His parents, Ed and Darla Rodgers, were taken aback as they had recently visited the couple without any apparent issues.
Following a disappointing game against Buffalo, Munn reportedly confronted Ed and Darla about their plans to see Rodgers at the upcoming Green Bay Packers game in Tampa Bay. Emotions ran high as Munn expressed her objections to their visit.
Standoff with Munn
Munn made it clear that she did not want the parents attending the game, asserting her authority. However, Ed and Darla insisted on supporting their son independently of her wishes.
While Munn declined to provide her perspective on the events for a recent book, Ed and Darla were forthcoming about their experiences.
Ed reminisced, “The only thing I said was, ‘You haven’t been on the scene very long. You’re just his girlfriend. We’re his parents.'”
Despite the tensions, Ed and Darla went to the Tampa Bay game but were unable to meet their son. Rodgers later communicated to family members, urging them not to antagonize his partner.
Before dating Munn, Rodgers had distanced himself from his closest friend, hinting at deeper personal dynamics influencing his relationships.
Darla’s religious beliefs, particularly regarding premarital sex, clashed with Munn’s openness about their intimacy, leading to additional tensions within the family.
“She was saying all that and it pissed Darla off, really pissed her off,” noted a source close to the family.
