Actor Michael Madsen was arrested on misdemeanor spousal battery charges following an incident at his Malibu residence. The “Donnie Brasco” star was taken into custody at 1:40 a.m. and later released on $20,000 bail.
The Incident Leading to Madsen’s Arrest
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a “family disturbance” call at Madsen’s home just after midnight. Lt. Adam Zeko reported that an adult female claimed Madsen had pushed her and locked her out of their house.
Zeko stated that Madsen’s arrest was for misdemeanor spousal battery under Penal Code 243(e)(1), involving violence against a cohabitant, punishable by up to a year in jail. The case will be forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court.
Madsen’s representatives mentioned that he is currently at home.
Madsen married his wife DeAnna in 1996 and they share three children, one of whom tragically died by suicide in January 2022. He has children from previous marriages as well.
This isn’t the first legal issue for Madsen. Almost five years ago, he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor drunk driving after crashing his vehicle into a pole, resulting in a four-day jail sentence and five years of probation.
