The well-known actor and politician presented a notable change from his typical public persona. His hair and beard had been heavily dyed, and he donned an unusual sweater along with vibrant Christmas-themed apparel, all while being escorted by five bodyguards through the bustling streets.
The buzz stems from photographs circulating of the former governor of California in this striking getup, leaving many curious about why he was in New York. It turns out, Schwarzenegger is filming a movie—a role that showcases a drastically different character from his iconic performance as the ‘Terminator’. Instead, he takes on a more playful farmer role.
The movie, titled ‘The Bag Man’, is directed by Adam Shankman. In this film, Schwarzenegger plays none other than Santa Claus, sharing the screen with Alan Ritchson, who gained fame from the series ‘Reacher’.
This marks Schwarzenegger’s first involvement in a Christmas film since ‘Jingle All The Way’ back in 1996 and his first feature film appearance since ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ in 2019.
Schwarzenegger Enjoys His Role
Schwarzenegger has expressed his enthusiasm about this project, regardless of the feedback he’s received online, where many commenters have hinted that he appears as a frail elderly man. Nevertheless, at 77, he maintains a robust presence. He shared, “Santa Claus is coming to town! I’m thrilled to be filming The Bag Man with @alanritchson,” praising director Shankman as “one of the funniest directors I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.”
Despite the criticism, Schwarzenegger has fond words for New York: “New York City has been an incredible host. I’m eager to spread Christmas cheer to all,” he concluded, showcasing his signature positive spirit.
