Ben Affleck is facing advice from friends to regain control of his life as he engages in a “toxic pattern” concerning Jennifer Lopez, amidst their ongoing divorce after two years of marriage.
The singer, aged 55 and known for her hit “On The Floor,” initiated divorce proceedings on August 20, coinciding with their wedding anniversary, and disclosed a separation date of April 26, confirming ongoing speculation about their relationship troubles that emerged earlier in 2023.
In a surprising turn, the couple was recently seen at the Beverly Hills Hotel, sharing a kiss before departing together.
However, those close to Affleck suggest that he has no desire for reconciliation with Lopez, indicating that he may be indulging in unhealthy behaviors that negatively impact her. Friends are urging him to change his ways.
According to a source speaking to In Touch, “Ben has a highly addictive nature, and some believe that now he’s sober, he’s developed a dependency on love.” This source adds that the back-and-forth with J. Lo provides him with a thrill even though he has no plans for a serious relationship.
“He’s affecting J. Lo‘s emotions, which is unfair, and it’s confusing for the kids too. The situation is creating unnecessary emotional turmoil for everyone involved,” the source explained.
According to friends, he is on a dangerous path, shouting out for help as he persists in wanting a divorce. They express concern over his self-destructive choices and plead for him to reconsider his actions.

The separation was abrupt and contentious, as the couple spent their significant dates apart, with Lopez flying 2788 miles away to the eastern U.S. while Affleck stayed behind.
Despite sharing a kiss, signs indicate that their marriage will not be salvaged, especially after Affleck decided to move out, initially relocating to Brentwood and later to Pacific Palisades, leaving Lopez behind.
