A Hollywood star, Blake Lively, shared her thoughts about the alarming situation surrounding her friend, Taylor Swift, and the Eras Tour performances in Vienna, Austria.
During the premiere of her new film, It Ends with Us, in London on August 8, Lively, 36, expressed her concerns about the security scare. The incident was recently highlighted in a video by Access Hollywood on TikTok on August 10.
Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour had planned three performances at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna from August 8 to August 10.
However, the concerts were called off due to a security threat. Austrian authorities apprehended two individuals on August 7 suspected of plotting a terrorist attack on these specific shows.
The suspects intended to use explosives and knives to cause harm, prompting the cancellation of the events to ensure public safety.
Insight into the Terror Plot and Arrests
Authorities in Austria revealed that the primary suspect had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) online and had been radicalized via online channels.
During a search of his residence, chemical substances were found, indicating the suspects had taken concrete steps towards executing their plan.
In response to the imminent danger, Barracuda Music announced the cancellation of all three shows through the official Taylor Nation Instagram account, stressing the importance of prioritizing attendee safety.
The cancellation announcement stated, “With confirmation of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.”
Additional individuals, including a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old, were initially detained and later released. Another person linked to the 19-year-old was arrested on August 9. Despite the gravity of the situation, Taylor Swift has yet to publicly address the incident.
