Patrick Mahomes enjoyed a double celebration on Sunday, September 15, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a win over the Cincinnati Bengals, followed by a surprise birthday party thrown by his wife. However, both Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were notably absent.
As he approached his 29th birthday, Mahomes experienced a challenging game at Arrowhead Stadium. Nevertheless, he secured a 2-0 start for the 2024/25 NFL season, continuing their pursuit of a remarkable third consecutive Super Bowl title.
The Chiefs won 26-25, overcoming a tough challenge from Joe Burrow. The victory was especially sweet for Mahomes, who returned home to find a beautifully arranged birthday celebration.
His wife, Brittany, planned the gathering ahead of his actual birthday on September 17, adorning their Missouri residence with black, red, and silver balloons alongside a “Patrick’s 29th” sign welcoming guests.
The festivities included a large mirror displaying “29” for photo opportunities, as well as an illuminated “29” for attendees to see. Brittany showcased nostalgic pictures of Mahomes from his childhood around the house and provided customized cups featuring his younger self.
Why was Taylor Swift absent?
Neither Travis Kelce nor Taylor Swift was present for the celebration, despite their close bond with the Mahomes. Taylor, in particular, steered clear of Brittany at Arrowhead Stadium for the second consecutive week.

Following her choice to avoid Brittany during Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, Swift opted to spend time with Mecole Hardman Jr’s fiancée in Week 2 instead.
This absence is intriguing given their previous visible camaraderie at the US Open final, where they celebrated alongside Kelce and Mahomes while enjoying food and drinks (with the exception of the pregnant Brittany), during Jannik Sinner’s victory in men’s singles.
