Offset is honoring his slain groupmate and cousin, Takeoff, with a giant tattoo of a portrait of the late emcee surrounded by illustrations of space that covers his entire back. On Saturday, the Migos rapper, 31, unveiled the inking on Instagram with the caption “Love you 4L & after ️.”
Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was fatally shot in the head and torso during a night out in Houston, Texas, on Nov. 1, 2022. He was 28. After the tragedy, Offset took to social media to express his grief, saying that his “heart is shattered” and the pain is “unbearable.”
“I know someone with a soul like yours is in heaven now,” he wrote. “I hope you can see how much we love you and miss you. You have left a hole in my heart that will never be filled.” He also said he wished he could hug, laugh, smoke and perform with Takeoff “one last time.”
A month after the death, Offset tweeted that he was “in a dark place” while grieving Takeoff’s passing. Earlier this year, Cardi B revealed that she and her husband heard about Takeoff’s death while in bed.
Authorities arrested Patrick Xavier Clark and charged him with murder for Takeoff’s death. On Jan. 4, he posted his $1 million bond and was released from prison. Per his attorney, Clark has maintained his innocence.
Offset’s tattoo is a beautiful tribute to his beloved cousin and groupmate. It’s clear that Takeoff’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
