The highly-anticipated sequel to It Ends With Us, under the title It Starts With Us, faces uncertainty as tensions between leading actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni come to light. Speculations suggest that ongoing conflicts between the duo could potentially hinder the progress of the upcoming film.
Recent rumors have circulated regarding the strained relationship between Lively and Baldoni, who played the central characters Lily Bloom and Ryle Kincaid. Sources have disclosed that Lively experienced feelings of discomfort on set, with some attributing this discomfort to Baldoni’s conduct.
“This situation is unprecedented, and the future of a potential sequel remains uncertain,” a source disclosed to Variety.
“It’s highly unlikely that these two will collaborate again.”
Ambiguity Looms
An incident that garnered attention involved Baldoni supposedly inquiring about Lively’s weight related to concerns about a physically demanding scene. This query was perceived by Lively as “fat-shaming,” intensifying her discomfort.
Moreover, tensions reportedly surged due to divergences in creative perspectives. Lively, also a producer on the film, allegedly made alterations to the script and costumes without consulting Baldoni or his team, exacerbating the growing discord.
Reports also indicate that Baldoni felt marginalized, especially as Lively’s spouse, Ryan Reynolds, became more involved in the movie’s production.
Despite these challenges, Baldoni‘s production company, Wayfarer Studios, retains the cinematic rights to It Starts With Us, retaining the possibility of his involvement in the sequel. However, with the reported tensions, there are speculations that Baldoni might choose to step away from the project entirely.
While representatives for Baldoni have not addressed the issue, the absence of joint public appearances by Lively and Baldoni during the film’s promotional activities hints at a strained relationship between the pair, raising uncertainties about their reunion for the sequel.
