Chelsea O’Donnell, the 27-year-old daughter of comedian Rosie O’Donnell, has faced her third arrest within a two-month timeframe. She was taken into custody for felony methamphetamine possession and other charges after a traffic stop in Niagara, Wisconsin, on November 18.
Police reports indicate that Chelsea was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped due to a loud exhaust. Officers observed “pick marks” on her face, suggesting significant drug use, and a search with a K9 unit led to her arrest.
During a search, authorities found a meth-smoking device hidden in her bra. Further inspection at the jail uncovered a pill bottle concealed in her body containing meth, Hydrocodone, Alprazolam, and Lamotrigine.
Chelsea reportedly confessed to using meth earlier that day and expressed intentions to enroll in an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) shortly.
Her bail was set at $7,500, and she is prohibited from drug use, alcohol consumption, or contact with known drug users.
Arrest history and family challenges
This marks Chelsea‘s third arrest in recent weeks. Her issues started in September when she faced charges for meth possession and child neglect after authorities found her 11-month-old son, Atlas, living in unsatisfactory conditions filled with drugs and clutter.
Following another traffic stop in October, Chelsea was released on bond under strict conditions earlier this month, which she has since violated. Rosie O’Donnell has publicly addressed her daughter’s struggles with addiction.
The O’Donnell family released a statement saying, “Sadly, this is not new for our family – Chelsea has battled drug addiction for ten years. We are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease.”
Chelsea‘s legal issues have also strained her relationships with her four children. Her ex-partner, Jacob Bourassa, recently sought a court order to prevent unsupervised visits following her initial arrest. They reached an arrangement allowing Chelsea to have supervised visits with their three children once a week, monitored by Bourassa‘s mother.
The youngest child, Atlas, remains in the custody of his father, Jacob Nelund, who was also involved in the earlier September incident concerning drug paraphernalia.
