Cher recently disclosed that Val Kilmer is the sole celebrity to have ended a romantic relationship with her. She shared this insight during her appearance on The Howard Stern Show, discussing her personal experiences and relationships.
Cher and Kilmer’s romance commenced in 1982 and continued till 1984, coinciding with their rising fame in the entertainment industry.
The 13-year age gap between the two—Cher being in her late 30s and Kilmer in his mid-20s—led to significant public speculation. Cher shared her thoughts on why Kilmer chose to break up, saying, “He was really young,” indicating that their different life stages played a part in their separation.
When asked by host Howard Stern if her partners expect “amazing sex” due to her fame, Cher humorously responded, “Yes, and they get it,” demonstrating her confident demeanor.
“Very few men would choose to leave me,” she remarked.
“I was deeply in love with Val Kilmer, and then he left.”
Cher and Kilmer’s Initial Meeting
Despite their breakup, Cher has consistently expressed fondness for Kilmer. In 2021, she shared that they first met at her birthday celebration in the early ’80s. Although their age difference was a topic of conversation, it did not detract from their relationship.
“I met him at a birthday party thrown by a friend. She told me, ‘I invited this guy who I think you or my editor friend will like,'” she recounted.
“We bonded over our shared sense of humor. He would often spend the night, and it began as a friendship [initially]. That evolved over time but not excessively long.”
