Despite the mixed reviews, the fight achieved remarkable viewership numbers. Netflix announced that over 60 million people watched the showcase, ranking it among the platform’s top live events. Additionally, the event generated revenue exceeding $17.8 million, the largest gate for a boxing match outside of Las Vegas in U.S. history.
Tyson’s Pre-Fight Health Challenges
In an unexpected twist, Tyson revealed that his road to the ring was fraught with serious health issues. In a post on X, the former heavyweight champion shared that he almost lost his life in June due to severe complications, which included losing half of his blood and requiring eight transfusions.
“This is one of those scenarios where you may have lost the match but emerged victorious in life,” Tyson commented. “I feel grateful for the opportunity to share the ring with a skilled fighter half my age in front of a full stadium.”
