The actress Danielle Fishel made a startling revelation about her battle with breast cancer on a recent episode of her podcast Pod Meets World. She shared the news with her co-hosts Will Friedle and Rider Strong, as well as her audience, stating she was diagnosed with DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), a form of breast cancer. Fishel stressed that the diagnosis was very early at stage zero and that she is undergoing surgery and follow-up treatment.
The actress revealed her initial reluctance to share her diagnosis publicly but decided to speak out to aid others, saying, “I had always thought I would suffer in silence… But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve really tried to learn from the experiences of others.”
Timely Detection of the Cancer
Fishel attributed the early detection of her cancer to regular health checkups, mentioning, “The only reason I caught this cancer when it is still stage zero is because the day I got my reminder for my yearly mammogram, I made the appointment.” She emphasized the importance of timely screenings and urged others to prioritize their health and seek screening.
While facing decisions about her treatment, Fishel’s co-hosts offered their support. Friedle assured her, “Whatever you need, we’re here. And if you need to miss something or if you need to postpone stuff, it’s the last thing you need to worry about.”
