DeAndre Hopkins Teases Potential Chiefs Trade with Playful Taylor Swift Nod

DeAndre Hopkins hinted at Chiefs trade with cheeky Taylor Swift reference

The Kansas City Chiefs seem to have addressed their wide receiver challenges by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans. Interestingly, he hinted at this move days prior to finalizing the deal by sharing Taylor Swift songs on his social media accounts.

Since the Chiefs’ own Travis Kelce is in a relationship with the famed singer, his sharing of her music appears to be a subtle nod to his new opportunity in Missouri. This playful action was performed by the 32-year-old player.

A video captured his family in a car with Swift’s popular song “22” playing loudly while Hopkins humorously responded to the trade rumors with a “Rumor has it” comment. Notably, the whole family was wearing Titans merchandise.

The trade was finalized on October 23, and according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs will exchange a conditional fourth-round pick for this promising addition to their offensive lineup, aiming to bolster Patrick Mahomes’s options.

Hopkins’ trade comes as Andy Reid manages multiple player injuries, including those affecting Hollywood Brown, Isiah Pacheco, Rashee Rice, JuJu Smith-Schuster, along with Kelce‘s struggles and the absence of Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Despite these hurdles, the team is maintaining an impressive 6-0 record.

This seasoned receiver has recorded 15 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown across the first six games of the 2024/25 NFL season. Over his career, he boasts an average of 943 receptions, 12,528 yards, and 79 touchdowns from 1529 targets in 168 games.

Previously, Hopkins played for the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals before spending two seasons in Tennessee on a $26 million contract. He is honored with three All-Pro selections since being drafted 27th overall in 2013.

Chiefs’ Week 8 Opponent

As they prepare for their Week 8 matchup, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking forward to having Hopkins in action for their game against the Las Vegas Raiders. This event will take place at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday, October 27, where they aim to keep their winning streak alive.

The match will be broadcasted live on CBS Sports, starting at 16:25 ET/13:25 PT for fans eager to follow the Week 8 excitement.
