Demi Moore recently shared an emotional update about Bruce Willis‘ health during her acceptance speech for the Career Achievement in Acting Award at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival on October 13.
The 61-year-old actress confirmed that her former husband, now 69, is “stable,” even as he deals with the effects of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). This diagnosis follows his previous diagnosis of aphasia, which was revealed by his current wife, Emma Heming Willis.
During a live discussion led by Alina Cho, Moore emphasized the significance of accepting Bruce’s condition as it is.
“The disease is what it is. You have to deeply accept that,” she told the audience.
“But for where he’s at, he is stable.”
Moore advocated for focusing on the present moment instead of clinging to the past.
“I always suggest to meet them where they are. Holding onto what was can feel like a losing game,” she remarked.
“When you meet them where they are, there is great beauty and sweetness.”
Cherishing moments together
Speaking about her recent visit with Bruce, Moore shared that she had just seen him two days earlier, with her granddaughter Louetta, who is Rumer’s child.
“Being able to share whatever time we have together is incredibly meaningful,” she stated, highlighting the value of their shared moments.
Moore and Willis have three daughters: Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30. In a prior appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she reiterated that Bruce is stable under the circumstances.
During the film festival, Moore reflected on her remarkable career, touching on memorable roles from iconic films like Ghost, Indecent Proposal, and G.I. Jane.
As she looked back at a compilation of her past performances before accepting her award, she took a moment to reflect on her journey.
“It felt like watching a multitude of lives. The gift of this career is the ability to keep evolving and improving. I was thinking, ‘I’m grateful for the opportunities to grow and get better.’
