Dennis Quaid, the well-known actor recognized for his role in the film Reagan, recently made an appearance at a Donald Trump rally in Coachella, California. His speech resonated with many attendees as he passionately spoke about the necessity for Americans to engage in the electoral process to influence the country’s future.
Quaid quickly highlighted the importance of the election, calling on people to carefully consider their choices regarding the nation’s path. He drew parallels between today’s political issues and those during Ronald Reagan’s 1980 election, suggesting that the challenges in politics have remained remarkably similar.
“I’m here today to tell you, that it’s time to pick a side,” he declared.
“Are we going to stand for the Constitution or for TikTok? Will we choose law and order or open borders? It’s time to decide.”
“It’s remarkable how the issues from the 1980 election mirror what we face today. Those of you who remember the inflation back then, 20% interest rates on loans, the Iran hostage situation – we were told we were in decline. Ronald Reagan came in and said, ‘No! We are not a nation in decline, we are progressing,’ and we followed him.”
Backing Trump
Although Quaid has often praised Reagan as his favorite 20th-century president, he has now chosen to support Donald Trump for the 21st century.
Quaid, who previously identified as an Independent, has shifted his viewpoint. In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, he explained how Trump’s ongoing legal challenges impacted his decision to back the former president in this upcoming election.
“People might call him an a**hole. But he’s my a**hole,” he stated at that time.
