It’s somewhat surprising considering Denzel’s charisma in the film industry and his remarkable ability to adapt to various roles, but this situation has undoubtedly caused him some challenges.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, the talented actor shared more about the difficulties he is currently facing.

“A few months ago, I seriously bit my tongue. It’s affecting how I talk, making me speak much slower. I really have to work through it,” Denzel Washington candidly admitted.

Although Denzel refrained from delving too deeply into the details of the injury, it became clear that this injury is very painful for him and significantly slows down a project he’s interested in.

Impact on His New Role

The 70-year-old actor mentioned that the injury is affecting his performance in Broadway’s “Othello”.

“I have a line: ‘Where do you want me to go to respond to this accusation?’ It’s challenging as my tongue is swollen, and it’s impacting everything I do,” Denzel explained.

Despite the discomfort, he views this as a growth opportunity and reflects on it through his faith.

“Alright, God, I feel like this is part of your plan for me. I’m unsure why this happened, but I see everything as a part of a larger design. At this point, my focus is on what God wants, not on public opinion,” shared Denzel Washington.
