Eva Longoria’s Move to Mexico and Spain

Actress Eva Longoria, alongside her spouse, Jose Baston, a Mexican entrepreneur, along with their kids, decided to leave the U.S. to seek a more peaceful lifestyle in Mexico and Spain. In an exclusive interview with Marie Claire magazine, Longoria shared, “I’ve spent my entire adult life here. Even before the pandemic, everything was changing. The environment was different. And then COVID came and took it to the limit. I feel like this chapter of my life is over.”

Longoria also Highlighted social issues saying that the presidential election results were a factor in her decision to relocate.

“The shocking thing is not that he won,” she remarked regarding Donald Trump’s election victory.

The startling aspect is that a convicted individual spreading hate can hold the highest office. If he follows through on his promises, it will be a frightening place.

Longoria expressed her dismay witnessing Trump’s 2016 election win, which left her feeling depressed. During that campaign, she actively volunteered to rally support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz. The outcome was discouraging for the Democratic Party, leading her to reflect on the effectiveness of her vote.

“I thought, ‘Does my vote really matter?'” she mentioned. “I felt disconnected from my beliefs, thinking the best candidate would succeed. But then reality hit me, and I realized that wasn’t the case.”

A Fresh Start for the Baston-Longoria Family

Now, Longoria and Baston, who is a high-ranking official at Televisa, plan to split their time between Mexico and Spain. In recent years, her work commitments have already led her to spend less time in Los Angeles, as she traveled extensively across Mexico, Europe, and South America.

The actress noted her sense of “privilege” regarding her ability to leave the country. “I can escape and travel somewhere,” she remarked, adding, “Most Americans are not so fortunate; they remain trapped in this dystopian reality, and my heart aches for them.”
