Jennifer Lopez, also known as J.Lo, is making a return to the spotlight on the silver screen in the wrestling biopic “Unstoppable”. The movie, produced by her husband Ben Affleck, has sparked speculation about a potential re-connection between the couple.
Recently, Amazon MGM Studios unveiled the first glimpses of Lopez, 55, in the movie alongside a talented cast including Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, and Don Cheadle. “Unstoppable” tells the inspirational true story of Anthony Robles, a one-legged wrestler who triumphed at the NCAA national championship in 2011. Lopez portrays Anthony’s strong and supportive mother, Judy, showcasing her acting prowess.
In the released images, Lopez is captured in character, sharing a touching moment with Jerome, who plays Robles. With Cannavale portraying Robles’ father, Rick, and Cheadle and Peña embodying the coaches who guided Robles to victory, the movie boasts a stellar lineup of talent.
What makes “Unstoppable” particularly intriguing is that it marks Lopez’s first film following her previous work in “Atlas”. This project is also the second collaboration between Lopez and Affleck since their marriage in 2022, following her earlier release, “This Is Me … Now”.
Could Jennifer Lopez Win Her First Oscar and Rekindle Her Relationship with Affleck?
The movie’s official synopsis sets the stage for a gripping narrative filled with drama and triumph. Anthony Robles, born without a right leg, overcomes monumental challenges to secure a national championship, notably defeating Iowa, the institution that initially rejected him. It’s a tale of redemption, perseverance, and defiance – classic Hollywood material.
Adding authenticity to the production, the real Anthony Robles serves as a producer on the film and even performed stunt work for Jerome. With Affleck and Matt Damon’s company, Artists Equity, backing the project, “Unstoppable” promises to deliver.
Affleck has expressed his enthusiasm for working alongside Lopez, describing it as “a joy” on CBS Sunday Mornings. Their collaborative efforts have been praised, hinting at a strong professional relationship. The film is already generating Oscar buzz, driven by the evident chemistry between the couple on and off the set.
Set for its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, “Unstoppable” is anticipated to make waves during the upcoming awards season, setting up for an exciting cinematic journey ahead.
