Rymir Satterthwaite, who asserts he is the son of rapper Jay-Z, has shared his thoughts on why the artist has been hesitant to take a paternity test for over ten years.
At 31, Satterthwaite claims that Jay-Z, legally known as Shawn Carter, has evaded resolving this matter potentially due to the fact that his mother, Wanda, was underage during their alleged affair.
Background on the claim against Jay-Z
In a recent interview with the Sun, Satterthwaite shared, “My mother, Wanda, was only 16 when she had me, and I’ve spent years trying to piece together my identity. This situation isn’t about greed; it’s about seeking the truth and holding everyone accountable.”
The legal battle began in 2010, when Satterthwaite sought a paternity test through the courts.
Despite various legal challenges and allegations of misconduct, Jay-Z has consistently denied the claims, asserting that New Jersey lacks jurisdiction over him.
Dr. Lillie Coley, Satterthwaite’s godmother, speculates that the rapper’s evasiveness relates to Wanda’s age at the time.
“I believe he’s frightened deep down,” she remarked.
“His reluctance isn’t just about Rymir’s mother being young… Initially, we attempted to resolve this quietly, but the issue of age surfaced.”
Allegations against Jay-Z’s legal approach
Satterthwaite has also accused the legal system of being manipulated to safeguard the music star.
Along with Coley, he claims they have incurred over $100,000 in legal expenses and accused Jay-Z’s legal team of imposing unlawful liens on their property.
Reflecting on the situation, Satterthwaite expressed appreciation for his mother’s unwavering support throughout her life.
“She fought tirelessly for this truth until her last days… She went above and beyond to help me uncover the reality,” he recalled.
Despite the protracted struggle, Satterthwaite asserts that his intentions are not driven by financial gain or fame.
“I hold no grudges against [Jay-Z]. I only seek the truth,” he stated.
“If it turned out to be a mistake, then so be it. If proven true, perhaps we could foster a relationship.”
There has been no response from Jay-Z’s representatives regarding these recent allegations.
