Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have settled their divorce, concluding their highly publicized marriage just five months after Lopez initiated the process to end their two-year relationship.
The duo, popularly referred to as Bennifer, has decided to split their assets without any spousal support, reflecting the positive spirit that marked their renewed romance.
Lopez, age 55, and Affleck, aged 52, finalized an arrangement permitting them to retain their respective assets accumulated throughout their marriage.
The $61 million Beverly Hills property they bought together is still available for sale, with the specifics of the transaction undisclosed. Additionally, as part of the settlement, Lopez will revert to her maiden name, dropping “Affleck.”
Though the divorce won’t be legally recognized until February 20, this agreement signifies a pivotal moment in what could have proven to be a challenging ordeal.
The couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement prior to their wedding, which could have led to negotiations over their significant assets and earnings. However, both parties collaborated effectively, sidestepping significant conflicts.
Lopez cited “irreconcilable differences” in her divorce filing on August 20, 2024, coinciding with their second wedding anniversary. Interestingly, she recorded April 26, 2024, as their separation date, suggesting that they may have been apart for several months.
A Complicated Public Split
The split of Bennifer 2.0 marks the conclusion of a fascinating love story in Hollywood.
The couple started dating in the early 2000s after meeting during the making of Gigli but ended their engagement in 2004. Fast forward nearly 20 years, and they rekindled their romance, thrilling their fans, and tied the knot in 2022.
Even after their separation, Lopez and Affleck have remained dedicated to co-parenting their children and keeping a positive professional relationship. They worked together on Unstoppable, which tells the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles.
