Jennifer Lopez recently shared her insights about her life during an interview with Variety, focusing on what she terms “difficult relationships” as she navigates her divorce from Ben Affleck.
The singer and actress mentioned how her own experiences mirror those of Judy Robles, the character she plays in the film Unstoppable, amidst her personal challenges that have captured media attention.
“Both of us share a Latina upbringing in this country. We have children, aspirations for them, and have dealt with tough relationships, which required us to keep our families strong,” Lopez conveyed during her discussion with Variety.
The star emphasized the fortitude needed to face challenges like divorce, an experience she knows well.
“Women, from birth, feel the need to prove their worth. This fosters a kind of strength,” she remarked, adding that motherhood amplifies that strength, stating, “Nothing can make you stronger than that experience,” she noted.
Lopez and Affleck, who revitalized their romance and wed in 2022, have been working through their breakup in front of the public eye. Rumors about their separation began circulating in May 2024, culminating in Lopez filing for divorce in August after two years together.
Despite their split, the couple has managed to maintain a positive relationship, often seen together as they co-parent their blended family. “Ben and Jennifer still share a bond and communicate about their children,” an insider shared.
During the recent holiday season, Affleck celebrated Christmas with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and their three children, while Lopez spent time with her kids in Aspen, Colorado. Interestingly, Lopez and Affleck exchanged gifts during Christmas, focusing on presents for each other’s children, illustrating their dedication to keeping family connections intact despite their separation.
