Actor Jeremy Renner, renowned for portraying Hawkeye in the ‘Avengers‘ franchise, has disclosed new insights concerning the life-threatening incident he endured following a severe snowplow accident in 2023.
In a chat on the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Renner recounted the deep tranquility he felt in that pivotal moment.
“I experienced an enormous relief, a remarkable tranquility that I didn’t want to return from,” the actor shared, recalling his arrival at the hospital in a critical state and the subsequent multiple surgeries he underwent. Renner described the feeling as “an exhilarating surge alongside profound peace. You perceive solely what resides in your mind. You are reduced to your atoms, your DNA.”

While speaking with actress and host Kelly Ripa, he noted that he felt as if his spirit had detached from his body. “It was so intense that I had no wish to return. The memory is vivid, and when I resurfaced, I was quite frustrated,” he revealed.
Renner recounted the moment he regained consciousness. “I can’t say if it was five, two, or ten minutes, but upon returning, I noticed my eyeball and thought, ‘Oh no! I’m back.’ Then I glimpsed my legs and knew that pain was imminent, thinking, ‘Just keep breathing‘.”
Furthermore, Jeremy Renner discussed how this accident reshaped his perspective on life. “I intend to live my life for myself now, not for others,” he asserted.

The incident took place on January 1, 2023, in Nevada, when Renner sought to stop his snowplow from rolling over his nephew. In the process, he was pulled and pinned beneath the vehicle, resulting in over 30 fractures. Ultimately, Jeremy Renner arrived at the hospital with 38 broken bones, collapsed lungs, and liver injuries from one of his fractured ribs. He spent two weeks in the hospital and underwent numerous surgeries. Since then, he has embarked on a long and difficult journey of recovery.
