Kanye West Absent from Key Court Hearing in $2 Million Gap Lawsuit

Kanye West sparks rumors with unexpected Moscow visit

Kanye West is currently navigating legal troubles after missing a recent court session tied to his lawsuit with former collaborator, Gap. According to documents from the Los Angeles Superior Court, neither West nor his company, Yeezy, attended the hearing on September 12, nor did they notify the court of any new legal representatives following the withdrawal of his previous attorneys.

The judge has approved Gap’s request for a rep from Yeezy to be present for a deposition, and West himself will soon need to participate in his deposition regarding the case.

The Legal Dispute

This lawsuit originated from Art City Center’s claims in 2022, alleging that Gap altered a leased building in downtown Los Angeles without proper approval. The location was meant for a collaboration between West’s Yeezy and Gap, initiated in 2020.

However, their partnership ended two years later, with West accusing Gap of breaching their agreement.

Art City Center is demanding over $800,000 in damages from Gap, while Gap has countersued West and Yeezy for $2 million, alleging the modifications were made by West’s team without Gap’s consent.

The lawsuit against West states, “By making and not repairing or restoring the foregoing alterations of the premises that [West] made without Gap’s participation or approval, [West] breached the strategic agreement and directly and proximately caused Gap to incur expenses to repair and restore the premises.”
