Kanye West opens up about being drunk during antisemitic social media outburst

Kanye West admits to being drunk when he went on antisemitic rant on social media

Kanye West revealed that alcohol influenced his decision to post an antisemitic tweet in October 2022, leading to public backlash and severed business relationships.

In a 2022 episode of “Candace,” Kanye West, 47, confessed during a podcast hosted by Candace Owens that his drunken state influenced his controversial remarks.

“I was drinking when I put up the DEFCON tweet.” West explained on the podcast.

He mentioned consuming Hennessy, noting the negative impact it had on him, saying, “It turns us gray. The demons come out.”

When questioned by Owens about his delay in revealing this detail, West defended himself, expressing a desire for his message to maintain credibility despite the influence of alcohol.

It wasn’t the first instance where West attributed questionable actions to alcohol. Back in 2015 at the MTV Video Music Awards, he partly faulted alcohol for interrupting Taylor Swift’s speech in 2009.

Addressing the audience during the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award acceptance speech, West wondered about alternate choices and acknowledged the lasting impact of his actions on people.

Despite his justifications, the repercussions of West’s actions in 2009 and 2022 persist.

What were West’s comments?

In October 2022, West took to Twitter for a late-night outburst.

He posted, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” which led to an immediate suspension from the platform.

This incident resulted in severed ties with companies like Adidas, Balenciaga, and Gap, impacting West’s business ventures.

Initially, West stood by his statements despite criticism and financial implications. However, he later expressed regret for causing harm during an interview with Piers Morgan.

In a subsequent antisemitic incident in Las Vegas over a year later, West went on a 10-minute rant involving confusing references to various figures, prompting an apology for his unintended remarks.

Despite issuing an apology, controversies continued as West was seen wearing a shirt with a neo-Nazi symbol and faced accusations of praising Adolf Hitler in meetings, further damaging his reputation.
