The discussion around Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and his late former partner Kim Porter has come back into the spotlight following Diddy‘s recent arrest on sex trafficking allegations.
Diddy, aged 54, and Kim, who died in 2018 at 47, had a complicated and often challenging relationship that spanned 13 years, from 1994 to 2007.
The pair had three children together: Christian, now 26, along with twin daughters Jessie James and D’Lila, who are currently 17.
Diddy also took on the role of guardian for Kim’s son Quincy, now aged 33, from Kim’s prior relationship. Kim, an accomplished model and actress, was a significant influence in Diddy‘s life, and her sudden passing deeply affected their family.
Kim Porter was discovered deceased in her residence in November 2018. The investigation revealed that she died due to lobar pneumonia, which affects a large area of the lung.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled her death as natural.
Diddy reflects on Kim’s final moments
In 2019, Diddy shared memories of Kim during a conversation with ESSENCE, highlighting her identity as a mother. He recounted their last exchange, where she showed worry for their children.
Diddy remembered, “She had come down with the flu and sent the kids to my place to keep them safe. One evening, I checked on her, and she said, ‘Puffy, take care of my babies’.”
These poignant words became some of her last wishes, underscoring her commitment to family.
With Diddy facing legal difficulties, reports indicate that Kim’s best friend, Lala, is currently looking after the twins, though she lacks legal guardianship.
Simultaneously, Diddy’s sons, Quincy, Justin, and Christian, are in New York for the legal issues he’s facing, while the twins are in Los Angeles.
Diddy is facing charges including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy among serious allegations.
Although he pleaded not guilty, the judge has denied him bail over public safety concerns, with his next court date set for September 24.
