LeBron James Sparks Controversy Among Fans by Bonding with Rival Kendrick Lamar

LeBron James 'betrays' his biggest fan Drake by getting friendly with nemesis Kendrick Lamar

Fans speculate that LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers may have ruffled Drake by performing tracks from Kendrick Lamar, especially since the Canadian artist called out the NBA star in his new song, Fighting Irish. What did he say?

Drake has been locked in a feud with Lamar throughout 2024, and tensions have escalated after Kendrick accused the 38-year-old rapper of improper conduct involving underage girls, each artist making jabs at the other’s family.

This conflict has taken a serious turn, prompting Drake to file two lawsuits against the track Not Like Us, targeting Universal Music for alleged defamation related to this song.

Meanwhile, LeBron‘s remarks during Lakers’ practice on December 31, using a term common in Lamar’s lyrics, have made Drake keen to distance himself from the basketball star.

In his new track, Drake mentions, “Remember we traded watches, I gave you the Arabic dial and you gave me the numbered edition,” which seems to hint at a specific watch associated with LeBron. Notably, LeBron also has ties to St. Vincent-St. Mary high school, known as the Fighting Irish.

The lyrics also imply that Drake perceives LeBron as overrated, voicing sentiments about being enchanted by “gimmicks” and suggesting personal stakes in the quarrel, perhaps urging him to stop supporting Lamar.

Drake ominously warns, “God forbid we ever got to tarnish your public image,” implying he could reveal damaging information about James, recalling their modest past.

What’s next for the Lakers?

As for LeBron, he has yet to publicly respond, and given his history, he likely won’t. However, being an admirer of rap, there is a possibility he may eventually retaliate musically against Drake.

In the meantime, LeBron is focused on the upcoming game against the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Sunday, December 5, starting at 19:00 ET/16:00 PT.
