It appears that Luigi Mangione has been identified as a fan of Taylor Swift. This revelation followed a TikTok user posting a screenshot of the 26-year-old, initially shared by a user on X.
This update comes amid news that Mangione was detained recently in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in relation to the murder of Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, which occurred on December 4.
Authorities took Mangione into custody after he was recognized and reported by a McDonald’s manager upon his arrival on a Greyhound bus.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams stated that Mangione was found with a firearm that matched the description of the weapon used in the homicide.
Before gaining attention for his alleged crime, Mangione reportedly attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour on October 20, with a TikTok user noting, “There is no way that #luigimangione, UHC Adjuster was listening to Taylor play ‘Guilty As Sin’ at the same time as me!?”.
The user further expressed doubt, asking if the event was genuine or fabricated.
Charges Against Mangione
Mangione now faces serious charges, including one count of murder, three counts of possessing weapons unlawfully, and one count of having a forged instrument, according to NBC News.
In reaction to the news of his arrest, Mangione’s family stated, “We cannot comment on news articles regarding Mangione. We only have the information available through the media. Our family is in shock and anguish over his arrest. We extend our sympathies to the family of Brian Thompson and ask for prayers for everyone involved.”
While being escorted for his extradition hearing in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, Mangione drew attention in his orange jumpsuit, stating, “It’s completely out of touch. It’s an insult to the intelligence of the American people.”
