A close friend of Mariah Carey’s late sister has spoken out, accusing the singer of neglecting to communicate with her sibling during her final days battling illness.
Despite knowing about Alison Carey’s terminal condition, Mariah reportedly did not reach out to her sister during the last month of her life, as shared by a friend familiar with the situation.
According to Dave Baker, who had been a long-time friend of Alison and provided her with care in her final days, Alison passed away on the same day as their mother, Patricia Carey.
“Alison felt abandoned by her younger sister, Mariah,” as expressed by Baker.
“This topic weighed heavily on her mind. She even questioned if Mariah or any family members would attend her funeral. A memorial service is said to be scheduled for a later time,” he added.
The friend further claimed that despite being informed of Alison’s impending death a month prior, Carey made no effort to reach out.
“A simple phone call or even a video call would have meant the world to Alison,” he remarked. “Unfortunately, this never happened.”
Criticism towards Mariah Carey’s Response
Baker criticized Mariah’s reaction to her sister’s passing, stating, “It’s ironic how Mariah now expresses being ‘heartbroken’ over losing both her mother and ‘former’ sister. This insensitivity only added to Alison’s suffering.”
Baker also revealed details about Alison’s final weeks, stating she was under home hospice care and battling internal organ issues.
Remembering Alison fondly, he described her as intelligent, warm, and sensitive, and expressed deep sorrow over her loss.
“Having known Alison for almost a decade and recently being involved in her caregiving, her absence will leave a significant void,” Baker concluded.
