Mark Your Calendars: Joker: Folie à Deux Streaming Release Date Unveiled!

When is Joker: Folie à Deux coming to streaming? The date has been revealed!

Joker, featuring Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Todd Phillips, was a major success. The 2019 release generated extensive buzz regarding a potential sequel. Now, five years later, “Joker 2” is currently shown in cinemas globally. Many are curious about its streaming release date.

The first installment of Joker represented a pivotal change for DC Comics films. After varied responses to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Warner Bros. chose a different approach. Instead of continuing with the DCEU, Joker emerged as a standalone production by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films.

Despite mixed critical reviews, the film garnered immense popularity among viewers, culminating in a worldwide box office surpassing $1 billion. This immense success made the prospect of a sequel hard to resist, even though the first movie was designed as a single film.

Following a period of speculation, Todd Phillips revealed in 2022 that Warner Bros. had greenlit the sequel, with a scheduled release in the fall of 2024.

Streaming Availability for Joker 2

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to hit digital platforms on October 29, shortly after its theatrical launch on October 4.

Despite high expectations, the sequel is forecasted to incur losses between $150 million and $200 million, according to estimates from industry insiders and competing executives shared with Variety.

Although Warner Bros. has not confirmed a release date for the film on its streaming platform, Max, they typically make films available 45 days after their theatrical release. Therefore, Joker: Folie à Deux might be accessible on Max by late November or early December.

Controversial Casting Choices

The original Joker spurred significant discussions regarding its themes, with concerns about potential real-world violence.

The choice to cast Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, Joker’s infamous accomplice, has drawn criticism from traditional fans. Many are against Gaga’s participation and the film’s musical format. Nevertheless, Phillips and Phoenix continue to pursue their creative vision.
