Mark Zuckerberg shared a candid moment about his parenting when he told his daughter she cannot strive to be like Taylor Swift, after they attended one of the singer’s concerts. He emphasized that she should focus on carving out her own identity.
The founder of Facebook is the father to August Chan Zuckerberg, his second child born in 2017. Given her impressionable age, it’s understandable that she finds joy in the music of the 34-year-old pop star.
However, her admiration for the pop star led her to express a desire to be like Swift. Zuckerberg responded honestly, explaining that this path isn’t feasible, given their family’s wealth of $196.9 billion.
He recounted, “After attending a Taylor Swift concert, she told me, ‘I kind of want to be like Taylor Swift when I grow up.’ I replied, ‘But you can’t. That’s not available to you.’”
To this, she reflected and said, ‘Alright, when I grow up, I want people to want to be like August Chan Zuckerberg.’ I was thrilled to hear that.”
The family attended the Eras Tour in Santa Clara in July 2023, accompanied by their mother and their other children who were old enough to join. Zuckerberg sported a pink gemstone-decorated t-shirt during the event.
He also shared moments from the concert on Instagram, capturing the family’s fun and garnering over 440,000 likes, captioning it “Life of a girl dad.”
