Naomi Campbell is witnessing a decline in her career following her retirement from modeling. The British icon, once synonymous with the runway, is now facing different challenges.
Among her initiatives, she established a philanthropic organization known as Fashion for Relief. Initially, this project seemed to be her pride and joy, but it may now be leading to significant complications.
An inquiry conducted by the UK Charity Commission has unveiled that the former supermodel has been misusing charity funds over the past six years. Reports indicate that only 8.5% of the revenue generated by Fashion for Relief has been donated to charitable causes.
The remaining funds appear to have been used for the supermodel’s personal expenses, investments, or compensation for trustees. Naomi Campbell launched her foundation in 2006 with the aim of supporting victims of Hurricane Katrina and other humanitarian efforts. However, nearly two million euros have reportedly been spent on luxury accommodations, spa treatments, and private jet travel.
Consequences for Naomi Campbell Due to Financial Misconduct
Fortunately for the supermodel, the consequences have been relatively mild; she has received a five-year ban from overseeing any charitable operations.
Naomi Campbell claims she was unaware of the financial misconduct and expresses her “deep concern,” but the UK Charity Commission has upheld the ruling.
Additionally, two of her associates, Bianka Hellmich and Veronica Chou, have received similar penalties, with their disqualifications lasting nine and four years, respectively.
