Over two decades after the public was puzzled, Nicole Kidman finally clarified the story behind a famous image that suggested she was celebrating her divorce from Tom Cruise.
In reality, the photograph had no connection to her divorce, as Kidman explained during her conversation with British GP for her feature as Men of the Year.
“That’s not accurate,” Kidman stated regarding the assumption that she was expressing joy over her divorce.
“That wasn’t me,” she remarked, adding, “That was a scene from a film. Not real life. I know that picture!”
Although Kidman recognized the film where she wore her distinctive outfit, she did not mention its title.
The image gained attention once more when Jenna Dewan shared it on her Instagram following her divorce settlement with Channing Tatum.
A Brief Look at Kidman and Cruise’s Union
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise were married in 1990, adopting daughter Isabella, 31, and son Connor, 29, before their split in 2001.
Cruise later married Katie Holmes in 2006, but they divorced in 2012.
After her divorce, Kidman started a relationship with Keith Urban in 2005, marrying him the following year. They have two daughters, Sunday, 16, and Faith, 13.
Though Kidman reflects positively on her journey, she also contemplates her own mortality.
“Mortality. Connection. Life can be overwhelming. The passing of parents, raising kids, and all that contributes to being a fully aware person,” she said. “Life is intense.”
