In the holiday drama rated R, Kidman plays a CEO involved in a risky romance with a younger intern, portrayed by Harris Dickinson.
Although the film’s tagline suggests an enticing Christmas experience, the actual filming was quite challenging for her.
At 57 years old, Kidman revealed that some scenes were so demanding that she needed to pause to regain her composure.
Particularly the intimate moments with her on-screen partner, played by Antonio Banderas, and her younger lover were emotionally straining for her.
“There was a lot of sharing and trust mixed with frustration,” she noted in an interview with The Sun.
“It’s as if I was thinking, ‘Don’t touch me.'”
These scenes were taxing for the actress, who expressed,
“During filming, there were times I just wanted to scream, ‘No more! Don’t come near me. This is awful!'”
The role’s demanding nature left her feeling emotionally and physically worn out.
“It consumed me so much that it led to a kind of burnout,” she jokingly mentioned, “Honestly, I could go my whole life without being touched again!”
Dickinson, at age 28, also addressed the filming difficulties, admitting he also sought solitude on set.
“There were moments I just needed to be alone for a bit,” he commented.
Babygirl presented Kidman with a unique opportunity to dive into uncharted territory in her acting career, but it may not be an experience she wishes to repeat.
“It was a new frontier for me in my profession,” she remarked.
“Having experienced it, I’m uncertain about revisiting it.”
