In a recent discussion with Rolling Stone, Emmy award recipient Niecy Nash-Betts expressed her enthusiasm for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who recently stepped into the acting realm with his role in FX’s horror series Grotesquerie. The accomplished actress commended Kelce’s commitment, remarking on his eagerness to embrace this new chapter.
“I adore Travis. We were just chatting,” stated Nash-Betts, emphasizing their strong bond. She praised Kelce’s dedication to acting, noting how his excitement mirrored her own when she was starting out. “He approaches his scenes with a passion that takes you back to your beginnings. It’s refreshing to see his enthusiasm for the craft.”
Behind the Scenes
In Grotesquerie, Kelce portrays Eddie Laclan, an orderly working in a small-town hospital. Nash-Betts plays Detective Lois Tryon, a heavy-drinking detective whose spouse is a patient at the same facility. Kelce’s nuanced performance has gained attention, highlighting his capability to explore acting beyond football.
Nash-Betts also praised Kelce’s family, especially his mother, Donna. “I have a soft spot for his family. His mom, Mama Kelce, is wonderful. I’m also a fan of their podcast with his brother Jason,” she remarked, referring to the acclaimed New Heights podcast the Kelce brothers host.
Transitioning from Sports to Acting
While Nash-Betts enjoys watching Kelce make the jump to acting, she is equally excited to see him excel in football. “I’ve had the chance to see him perform with the [Kansas City Chiefs]. I just think he’s amazing,” she expressed.
