Pamela Anderson has found joy in her work. At the age of 57, she has experienced significant career milestones. Her early fame as a beach icon on the iconic series ‘Baywatch’ established her, but it also confined her to a particular image, making it tough to break away from that perception.
Currently, she is in a state of happiness, having recently received nominations for a Golden Globe and a Gotham Award for her performance in ‘The Last Showgirl’. She feels fulfilled in how she has successfully shifted the focus of her career.
“I have faced self-doubt and skepticism from others, but it’s essential to have faith in oneself since it’s easy to box someone in,” she shared, reflecting on her early career as a sex symbol, which sometimes led to feelings of uncertainty about her abilities.
She remarked that the opportunity to portray such a different character in ‘The Last Showgirl’ was unexpected yet welcomed. “This role was truly a gift. I was aware of my potential beyond the stereotype and had everything to gain. This might be my only opportunity to take on this type of role,” she expressed. The director, Gia Coppola, believed that she could embody the character Shelly.
In ‘The Last Showgirl’, Anderson portrays Shelly, a Las Vegas entertainer whose three-decade career suddenly comes to a halt. Although the character doesn’t mirror Anderson directly, some parallels are unavoidable.
