The Mahomes family is celebrating the arrival of their third child, marking a new chapter in their lives. On Instagram, Brittany Mahomes announced the birth of their daughter, “Golden Raye Mahomes,” filling the home with even more joy. This makes her the second daughter, joining her siblings, 3-year-old Sterling and 2-year-old Bronze. Many of Brittany’s followers have expressed their congratulations, noting that they had predicted she might choose a name associated with gold.
With “Golden” now part of the family, it seems like the Mahomes couple has a unique naming theme going on, as they also have a cane corso named “Silver” and a pit bull named “Steel.” It raises the question of why they opted for such metallic names in their household.
The Naming Journey
Brittany Mahomes shared that their naming conventions began with their dog, Steel, a pit bull she adopted while attending the University of Texas at Tyler. She mentioned to People magazine that Steel’s name pays homage to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which she supported earlier in her life.
The second dog was nearly named Sterling but they ultimately chose “Silver.” Their son, born as Patrick Mahomes III, is affectionately called “Bronze,” a name suggested by Patrick’s brother Jackson. Brittany disclosed on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that Patrick prefers using their son’s full name to avoid upsetting him. The arrival of baby girl Golden followed the announcement of their pregnancy in July 2024, which brought excitement and curiosity about the couple’s naming choices.
A Timely Arrival
Patrick Mahomes, in a Netflix Sports interview on Christmas Day, hinted that their daughter’s arrival would ideally align with the Chiefs’ schedule, minimizing stress for Brittany during the football season. Remarkably, baby Golden Raye was born during a bye week for the Chiefs, allowing Patrick to be there for the special moment.
As for the possibility of expanding their family further, names like “Chrome Mahomes” or “Platinum” have been playfully suggested. However, Patrick made it clear last July that he feels content with three children, stating, “I’m done. I’ll say that. I said ‘three,’ and I’m done.” This suggests that the Mahomes household will enjoy their growing family as it is.
