She revealed that football wasn’t always Patrick’s primary focus, as he explored various sports during his athletic journey, including basketball and baseball. There were moments where he even contemplated giving up football.
Randi reflected on her initial doubts about Reid’s tactics, mentioning, “Even the first couple of years with the Chiefs, I would say I don’t think you’re supposed to do that, like scramble around, running around…and he was like Coach Reid [said] it works, do it. I’m like okay, but I don’t think you’re supposed to do it but okay.”
Her concerns were rooted in Patrick’s fluctuating commitment to football, especially during his high school years when he debated quitting due to struggling with the quarterback position. Randi, drawing from her own rebellious past, encouraged him to persevere, stating, “I said if you quit, you’re going to be bored in the stands.”
