Sweet Mary Jane remains a constant in Pete Davidson’s life, as the comedian admits that despite kicking harder substances like cocaine, ketamine, and pills, he still can’t shake off his attachment to weed.
The 30-year-old actor has been open about his drug use to cope with mental health issues like depression, PTSD, and borderline personality disorder. Even though he’s currently attempting to get sober, marijuana is the one remaining vice.
“I can’t kick [weed] yet. It’s the last crutch I have,” Davidson told the crowd at his “Pete Davidson: Rehab Tour” in Atlantic City, New Jersey. “I did coke, ketamine, and all sorts of pills and drugs.
“Weed is all I have left, so it’s almost over, but I’m hanging on a bit longer.”
The Saturday Night Live star has sought to manage his substance abuse by undergoing treatment at rehabilitation facilities in the United States to break free from the grips of addiction.
Davidson Humorously Recounts 100mph Crash
The public was taken aback when it was revealed that Davidson and his partner were involved in a 100mph crash in March 2023, where a Mercedes-Benz collided with a fire hydrant and destroyed a resident’s garage in Beverly Hills, according to police records.
Yet, charges against Davidson were eventually dismissed, and just over a year later, he found humor in referencing the incident during his performance in New Jersey.
“I saw the house and thought, ‘You probably can’t die from hitting a house.’ In sitcoms, they usually just crash right through,” Davidson shared. “So, I swerved and aimed for the house, hitting the garage quite well.
“Even at my lowest, I’m pretty darn accurate.”
Davidson was mandated to fulfill 50 hours of community service and a driving awareness program, expressing his initial fear of facing imprisonment until realizing he wasn’t impaired and no fatalities occurred.
