Comedian Pete Davidson has voluntarily entered a wellness facility to address his mental health struggles following his recent split from Madelyn Cline, his girlfriend of almost a year.
Davidson, famous for his work on Saturday Night Live and stand-up comedy, has been open about his battles with mental health.
After being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in 2017, he has emphasized the importance of looking after his mental well-being. Sources have shared that his current stay at the facility is part of his ongoing efforts in managing these conditions.
“Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issues,” revealed a source to People magazine.
“His friends and family have been supportive during this time.”
Adjusting his Plans
In a move towards prioritizing sobriety and mental health, Davidson had to make modifications to his professional commitments.
His scheduled Prehab Tour, slated to kick off on August 9 in Kansas and wrap up on October 14 in Texas, has been axed. The tour spanned various states, and the cancellations were attributed to “scheduling conflicts.” Ticketmaster reassured customers that refunds for all canceled shows will be processed automatically.
Davidson’s mental health journey has been public, including his previous stint in rehab in June 2023. Through his performances, he has often incorporated humor while discussing his struggles with mental health and substance abuse, including past ketamine use.
“I got diagnosed with BPD a few years ago, and I was always just so confused all the time, and just thought something was wrong, and didn’t know how to deal with it,” he shared.
“Then, when somebody finally tells you, the weight of the world feels lifted off your shoulders. You feel so much better.”
