Rapper Michael Robinson, professionally known as Ralan Styles and recognized for his hit ‘Baby Shark’, was tragically shot and killed at just 22 years old during a suspected robbery in Columbus, Ohio.
The incident took place early Saturday morning in the Victorian Village area.
Witness reports suggest that the shooter attempted to rob Styles of a chain, and when Styles resisted, the assailant shot him.
Officers from the Columbus Police Department arrived shortly before 5 a.m. and found Styles suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mahamood Hassan, 24, has been arrested following witness accounts that helped identify him as the shooter. He has been charged with Styles‘ murder and is currently held in Franklin County Jail, pending trial.
Tributes from His Brother
Styles‘ brother, also a rapper under the name Lil Goat, shared his grief on Instagram, stating, “No, my little brother. I’m still waiting for you to call me and tell me this is all a joke. I’m heartbroken, I’ll never be the same. We went from rapping together in high school to becoming superstars. I love you brother, and as long as I’m alive you will never die.”
Fans of Styles have also expressed their condolences, with many commenting on his brother’s post: “May you rest in peace. I’ve been following them for a long time and loved the chemistry they had making music. I don’t know him personally, but this really hurt my heart,” remarked one fan.
