During a court session in Miami-Dade, Cuban reggaeton musician Chocolate MC momentarily heightened tensions by making an inappropriate comment about Judge Mindy S. Glazer, likening her physique to that of a woman he frequently mentions in his songs. The judge responded by ordering him to be quiet and disabling his microphone. This incident was seen as a significant display of disrespect in light of the serious allegations of kidnapping and threats he faces.
The artist, known as Yosvanis Sierra, was taken into custody on June 5, accused of coercing a young fan into his vehicle at gunpoint, although it turned out the gun was a toy. Reports indicate he drove the victim around Miami for over two hours, demanding money and Zelle transfers, while issuing threats.
Previous Legal Issues and Extrajudicial Speculations
Chocolate MC has a criminal history, including a past domestic violence case involving his former partner. He was recently barred from a hotel due to violent actions, which resulted in a restraining order. While not addressed in court, social media has been rife with speculation linking him to the death of fellow artist “El Taiger”, though these allegations remain unverified by legal authorities.
Throughout the hearing, the singer exhibited erratic behavior. He accused his attorney of being “bought” and unfit to represent him, while simultaneously expressing fear for his safety, suggesting that he could meet a similar fate to “El Taiger” if released. Despite these concerns, he also indicated a wish to be released from custody. This paradox, along with his criminal background, led Judge Glazer to refuse bail, labeling him a threat to the safety of both himself and the community.
Currently, the artist remains incarcerated as a new court date awaits scheduling. The judge has also mandated a protective order to prevent any communication with the victim, the fan he reportedly sought to extort. The case is active, and prosecutors may pursue additional charges as the investigation continues.
